Assignment 3__Bolt

1.What do you think of Jeremy Lin? Is it good to have sports stars from different cultures?

Lin is so hot these days, espacially in Taiwan. Every day, you can see his news hit on the press. What I know about him is that he has a NBA dream and he dares to put it into practice. So I admire him, so I will notcie his play time and watch his news and Youtube.
Sure, sports stars from multi-culture may bring some good effects, like various tactics, baskitball concepts and skills.

2. The article says that people in Taiwan are very excited about Jeremy Lin. Who are some people in your country that people admire?

We call them "Glory of Taiwan". These people may be Yani Tseng who plays golf, Lu Yen-hsun who plays tennis, and Louis Liu who play magic shows. They are so famous in their categories but they are all modesty. I like them very much.

3. Who are some non-famous people you look up to?

The first person I thought is Lucifer Chu, who is the translator of "The Lord of the Rings". He earned a lot of money from the traslation of that book. But he spent all of it to set up OOPS (Opensource Opencourseware Prototype System). He hoped the people whose English are the basic level can get some opportunities to know the lectures in MIT. He did good things for social welfare, not for himself. So I look up to him and keep listening to his broadcast.

Assignment 3__Derek

Hi Jay,
Well, the most famous singer in Taiwan is Jay Chou, he makes a lot of money too, just like Rain did in Korea.
1. Jeremy Lin is a great NBA basketball player, but I feel that news media in Taiwan report too much of his news. For example, Jeremy Lin is on news channel/news paper almost everyday, and most of the time when he wins the match, it is on the front page. I mean come on; there is gotta be news more important than this. Well, I think having sports stars from different cultures doesn’t matter that much, but it’s always good to see people from different cultures playing games together and respect one another.
2. Yes, people are super excited about Jeremy Lin. Some other people in Taiwan people admire includes: “Taiwan’s Glory”, Chien-Ming Wang (previous Yankee pitcher), Yani Tseng (No.1 golfer on LPGA), and Jay Chou (most famous pop signer in Taiwan).
3. I look up to doctors and CEO’s of large company. I respect them because they take a tremendous amount of responsibilities in their jobs.

1. I am expressed that he gets a three-pointers ball in 5 seconds. That is amazing. I like his personality because he will not be discouraged by the setbacks. In addition, his modesty of his success belies his great frame. I think he must be a superstart in my heart forever.

I think it is good to have the different cultures players in a team because they are easy to exchange their ideas to another by way of talking or sharing experiences or practicing. Maybe they will have some brainstorming to think some good ideas. Wan Jian Min is a ptcher in Big League. He pitches balls 191 km/hr once. The speed is so fast that the oppositive players cannot hit his balls. The other one is Zeng Ya Ni. I like her very much. She is also modesty. When she wins the game, she always smile to say thanks to her fans and post her appreciation on her Facebook. I also cheer her up in the competitions. They are all the Glory of Taiwan.
